About Steiner Birding

Steiner Birding Binoculars

Steiner is an optics and binocular manufacturer located in Bayreuth, Germany. Bayreuth is in Bavaria near the city of Nuremberg. Steiner-Germany was founded there in 1948. Today, the Steiner company thrives on making binoculars for specialty applications and the Steiner Birding series are no exception. Steiner's birding models were developed with your needs in mind.

About Us

Over the past 10 years, we have worked hard on developing specialized birding binoculars. We work very closely with our Birding Team "Steiner Peregrine ", the American Birding Association, the Cape May Bird Observatory and several State Audubon Societies to try to best identify the requirements of new birders to experts. Our goals are to support public awareness, conservation and habitat preservation. We hope that with our binoculars, observers of all interest groups will learn to appreciate more of our outdoor environment.

Glass

The glass that is used in your Steiner binocular is from the worlds leading precision optical glass suppliers and is ground, polished and coated in our state-of-the-art glass production facility.

Optical Coatings

This is one of Steiner's specialties. Since Steiner makes performance and enhancing optics for various uses, we took the task of making the most natural, color balanced coatings for our birding series very serious. Natural color reproduction is very important because it lets you identify birds and other animals easier, especially when compared to field guides. Brightness is also a very important consideration so you can see in shadows, under branches or in dim light. The Peregrine models feature a High-Definition broad band coating which offers incredible brightness in low-light settings. The Merlin line features similar performance, although not as bright.

Construction

This is another Steiner innovation. Our goal is always to make the binocular easy and comfortable to handle, yet very durable to take years of outdoor use. We feel you'll really appreciate the feeling in your hands (and to your eyes) with the new Birding models. They're rugged, but not bulky. You will get a very precise feeling when holding them and focusing.

Detail

You will notice that every part of your Steiner binocular has been tailored around human contours, from the profile shaped eyecups to the balanced hand grip areas, to the precise and smooth central focusing.
